Bass Gears, an online specialty shop that offers handcrafted basses and accessories, initiates a crowdfunding project to support luthiers across the globe and make more handcrafted bass guitars available in the market.
Bass Gears’ initiative, named The Support Luthiers, aims to provide a regular income to string instrument creators or luthiers and help them continue creating more basses that will be made available for purchase on the online bass shop.
“Our project aims to empower luthiers to continue making a living out of their passion,” shared a Bass Gears representative. “By joining our project, you help us support luthiers by creating a virtuous circle between bass lovers.”
Bass Gears sets a goal amount every month for The Support Luthiers project. The contributions collected will be used to order from luthiers their handcrafted bass guitars that will be available for purchase at the Bass Gears shop. To give back to those who contributed to the funding every month, a special handmade instrument will be raffled off, together with discount cards which they can use to buy any bass guitar or accessories from Bass Gears.
Though the industry has suffered a major blow because of the Covid-19 pandemic, Bass Gears hopes that through this initiative, luthiers will be able to recover and more people will be encouraged to prefer handcrafted luthier basses over industrial and mass-produced ones.
