New book "All This Healing is Killing Me" by Gabrielle Pelicci, Ph.D. is released, a riveting, honest memoir about healing and trauma recovery

“All This Healing is Killing Me” by Gabrielle Pelicci, Ph.D. has been released worldwide to rave reviews. This 220-page memoir has achieved Amazon bestseller status as #1 New Release in the Depression category and #2 New Release in the Biographies & Memoirs of Women category. Dr. Pelicci’s book follows the author’s traumatic history and indomitable commitment to surviving and thriving despite a painful past. Named one of the Top 100 Women of the Future in 2022, Dr. Pelicci’s insightful approach to Holistic Healing has been featured on MSNBC, the Unstoppable Podcast, and Authority Magazine among many others. She has also worked as a contributing writer for the Huffington Post.

A perfect read leading up to Mental Health Awareness Month observed each May, Dr. Pelicci’s new book has garnered praise from numerous readers and fellow authors. Nicholas Garnet, author of In the Pink: A Memoir, said:

“All This Healing is Killing Me shows us how the path to healing and enlightenment can be tortuous, hard work. Most importantly, we see that, when it comes to emotional pain, we can run, but we can’t hide. Not all of us have the courage to stop, turn, and face our pain head on. Thank goodness Gabrielle is a fighter – and a writer – with the courage to do just that.”

Battling deeply held feelings of inadequacy and self-loathing, as well as the stinging loss of her mother, Dr. Pelicci’s inner turmoil led her down a path of avoidance and an urgent search for meaning. At her mother’s funeral, an unsettling spiritual experience changed the course of her life for years to come.

Through relentless study, from completing her Ph.D. to training in massage therapy, holistic seminars to world travel, Dr. Pelicci built a broad understanding of healing, but still struggled to escape her own demons. While her professional life blossomed, the internal struggle persisted through a strained relationship with her abusive father, coming to terms with her parents’ addictions and mental illness, difficulty in romantic relationships, bouts with eating disorders, an ultimately, a suicide attempt.

After decades of unhealthy behavior and harboring pain, Dr. Pelicci finally turned a corner toward self-acceptance, and her healing journey is an inspiration for anyone struggling through similar circumstances. She truly believes that telling your story is essential to the healing process.

In writing this memoir, the author sheds light on the often-silent struggles that so many people face, and offers her own path toward healing as a guide. As a Holistic Health Professor and trauma survivor, Dr. Pelicci is committed to helping others find peace and wellness. Her story shows the complexity of the human experience, resonating with readers and serving as a catalyst for positive transformation.

From the back cover:

“A powerful cautionary tale–part memoir, part spiritual journey – All This Healing is Killing Me gives the reader a front-row seat to what it really takes to be a ‘spiritual warrior.’ There are no easy answers, no sudden enlightenment—just the “boots on the ground” hard work of becoming whole. This is a must-read for anyone who is serious about healing—and serious about embarking on a spiritual path.” – Maia Danziger, author of Relax & Write

At age 20, Gabrielle Pelicci returned from her modeling career in NYC to her hometown of Scranton, PA where her mother suddenly passed away. At her mother’s funeral, Gabrielle had a spiritual experience that left her reeling and set her on a heroine’s journey to learn about both the scientific and mystical explanations of human consciousness. Gabrielle studied a dozen healing practices, from alternative medicine to yoga, including travel immersions in Europe, Asia, and Africa. Over the next 10 years, her complex PTSD symptoms persisted. Little by little, Gabrielle’s childhood experiences of domestic violence, and her parents’ mental illnesses and addictions are revealed. At age 30, still grieving the loss of her mother and disgusted with the fact that she can’t overcome her anxiety and depression, Gabrielle attempted to take her own life. Luckily, she survived and continued her journey of healing and trauma recovery, earning a Ph.D. and becoming a professor of Holistic Medicine, with a dissertation on Women Healers. In this deeply personal and vulnerable account, Gabrielle reveals how childhood trauma impacts our physical and mental health — as well as our adult relationships. She explores how you are only as sick as your secrets and telling your story is the medicine that can save your life. All This Healing is Killing Me is a brave narrative that reckons with the hold of the past over the present, the mind over the body and celebrates one woman’s ability to write herself a happy ending.
